A cream ceramic soap dish with a scalloped, shell-like rim edged in brown and a small floral pattern in green and brown, closer to something from a country kitchen shelf than to a bathroom accessory. It is 15.5 cm (6.1 in) long, roomy enough for a full-size bar, and made as a drainage dish so the soap is not left sitting in water all day.

By the kitchen sink it holds a bar of dish soap; on a bathroom counter or a vanity it can just as well keep rings and earrings together overnight. As a housewarming gift it is small, useful and easy to like, the kind of thing people keep using long after they have forgotten who gave it.

FAQ

Will a standard bar of soap fit?
Yes. It is 15.5 cm (6.1 in) long and 11.5 cm (4.5 in) wide, so a full-size bar fits with room around it.

Does it drain?
Yes. It is made as a drainage soap dish, meant to keep the bar from sitting in water. Tip out any water that collects now and then.

Can I use it in the kitchen?
Yes. It works by the kitchen sink for a bar of dish soap as well as in the bathroom.

Is soap included?
No. Only the dish is included; the soap in the photos is styling.
